This visual display holds your focus by giving clear focal points framed with bright and exciting Colors!

Less is more when it comes to window displays. This window leaves me wondering where and what exactly I should be looking at.

Good
Probably one of my favorite windows I have analysed thus far. The way the clothing, and props (suitcases) are brown against the emerald green background it really gives them good contrast. Having the clothes hanging up in the left corner and the manniquin in the bottom right corner gives direction that leads the shoppers eye around.

Bad
Where to even begin with this window display. The clothing on the mannquins does not match and taking away from the overall theme. It doesn’t look like theres much light if any at all. Along with the random scattered shoes around the bottom of the display. Although the broken up white wall does add some form of texture to the line of sight, it doesn’t do much for the display.

Good
LOVE this window! Very clear color scheme. It’s interesting to look at really holds my focus. Good balance of manniquins and if you look to the standing manniquins the only one wearing a short dress has a larger prop infront to compromise with the dress length.

Bad
For starters the diplay is unbalanced with 3 manniquins on the left and 2 on the right, although there are 3 pairs of shoes on the right still. Along with that there is no clear color scheme from what I can tell.
Hi, my names Amanda Malley and this is my new fashion blog! A little about me is I am a double major at Illinois State University, studying Fashion Merchandising and Marketing . I started my journey in college with my first major marketing and felt my sophomore year I was missing out on something I love to do so much. Thus I added a Fashion Merchandising major to expand my career options along with following my true passion. It’s also fun to be apart of two different colleges within my university it just exposes me to that many more individuals I get to work with and bounce my ideas off of. I can be shy at first but strive to be the best me personally and professionally despite it. I love to do things over the top because if you can why wouldn’t you!
Currently I work at Express Factory Outlet in Eastland Mall as a key holder. I love working at Express where I am able to hone in on my visual merchandising skills. I work on planning floor sets on paper, as well as actually executing them on the salesfloor. Previously I worked for Gap INC. for 4.5 years in positions from associate to visual merchandiser of kids & baby. Being in charge of my own section gave me the opportunity to grow my merchandising skills but to understand the accountability and learn the back half of it. Merchandising is so much more than just making sure the store looks visually appealing.
In my long term career goals I would love to make the floor-set guides that are sent out to fleets of stores as a guide how to set their salesfloors. I believe this is a totally obtainable goal as long as I keep pushing to gain as much experience merchandising, working with others, and pushing outside my comfort zone. The people I surround myself with definitely help push me to do anything I put my mind to. My company also makes it a point to send me to merchandising workshops to support my future career, which is AWESOME! I’ll be blogging about various fashion window displays layouts and providing some incite as to why they are set the way they are.
